Barbara Preimsberg grew up on in the vast farmland region in California’s Central Valley in the City of Firebaugh. With her husband Chuck, they decided to re-settle and build their “Dream Home” back on the Farm. A Spanish-style ranch home built entirely of long lasting concrete walls (ICF construction), it provides vistas of the rolling coastal mountains. In the old Spanish tradition for privacy a perimeter stucco wall surrounds the landscaped yard and serves as a windbreak to the valley winds common in the evenings. The Best of Hosts, visiting the Preimsberg’s home is a sure reminder of days gone by where one would reach the far away “Hacienda” to seek refuge while in travel.

"The right architect can be a homeowner's best friend. His or her knowledge of energy use, building materials, and labor costs can save you more than enough money to cover their fee, and an original, well designed house — one that is strong, functional, and responsive to its site — is a daily joy as well as a good investment."
