The Blair house was Maurice’s second complete building project, designed in 1985 for DevCon founding partner, Jim Blair. The initial floor plan expanded during the design phase into a 24,000 square foot main house with a separate guest cottage and additional caretaker’s apartment. Built on 43 acres in Los Gatos with 5 acres completely landscaped, it is the largest single-family home in the town. The design includes an underground parking garage for 8 cars with an in-garage gas station and a spa off the master bedroom that is in the path of a 60-foot waterfall with 5 drops. The windows are all beveled glass set in arched bronze frames with sidelights; a similar 13’ by 8’ glass door graces the main entry. Maurice's original design proposal met all the city hillside ordinance requirements and was accepted by the planning commissioner on the first submission, without any required changes.

"The right architect can be a homeowner's best friend. His or her knowledge of energy use, building materials, and labor costs can save you more than enough money to cover their fee, and an original, well designed house — one that is strong, functional, and responsive to its site — is a daily joy as well as a good investment."
